From 1st September 2023, the world embraces more sustainable practices across various industries, and the UK is stepping up its efforts by revising regulations governing wood recycling. These changes aim to foster a greener, more eco-friendly future by facilitating responsible wood recycling at certified national wood recycling centres and local centres, including our very own Worcester recycling centre.
From the 1st of January 2023, a new regulation was also put in place to ensure that sofa and upholstered furniture that may contain Persistent Organic Pollutants Regulations (POPs) cannot be disposed of with your general waste or in your skip hire. The new regulations mean that upholstered domestic seating containing POPs cannot be disposed of in a landfill and must be incinerated.
At Blackpole Recycling in Worcester, we stand firm in our commitment to adapt to these regulatory changes, promoting responsible wood waste recycling management practices. Rest assured that when you choose our services, your wood waste is handled and discarded in line with the updated guidelines.
Despite these alterations, your disposal process remains largely unaltered. Continue to place your wood waste in your skip as you normally would; then it is over to us to dispose of correctly.
As a business owner, it's crucial to grasp how these changes could influence your disposal habits, particularly when using services like ours for recycling wood waste. The new guidelines segregate wood recycling into four distinct grades, from non-hazardous to hazardous, shaping disposal procedures and necessities at various Worcester recycling centres.
If you're handling pre-2007 wood waste recycling or have any questions about the new regulations and proper disposal methods, contact us at Blackpole Recycling in Worcester. We are here to guide you through the correct disposal procedures, ensuring a greener future for all.
