OUR VERY OWN PENGUIN FOR THE GREAT WADDLE OF WORCESTER 2024!
The time has come to decorate our own Penguin with Martley CE Primary School!
Blackpole Recycling Ltd is excited to participate in the Great Waddle of Worcester, contributing to the event by sponsoring both an adult and a baby penguin sculpture. These two sculptures are part of the eighty vibrant artworks that will adorn the city's streets and public areas. Following the exhibition, the adult penguins will be auctioned off, with the proceeds supporting the compassionate care provided by St Richard’s Hospice.
Before Easter the school welcomed Blackpole Recycling, along with Arthur the giraffe in his banana pyjamas and Wellyphant for their assembly to tell the children all about the waddle of Worcester. We are now excited to be working with them this week with painting the final design on the penguin, designed by the students at Martley CE Primary School!
“We are proud to be working with Blackpole Recycling and we are very thankful to them for allowing us the opportunity to be part of the Waddle of Worcester and promote a wonderful charity.”
“Waddles of Worcester” refers to a public art event known as The Great Waddle of Worcester 2024. It’s a community project organised by St Richard’s Hospice where a collection of penguin sculptures will be displayed throughout the city of Worcester during the summer of 2024.
The event aims to bring the community together, create lasting memories, and support the hospice’s mission to provide care for patients and their families. It’s a continuation of previous successful art trails organised by the hospice, such as Worcester Stands Tall in 2018 and Worcester’s Big Parade in 2021.
The trail begins on Monday, 22nd July and runs for eight weeks until Sunday, 15th September 2024. The great Waddle of Worcester is a Wild in Art event brought to the city by St Richard’s following two previous trails supporting its care for patients with a serious progressive illness and their families.
St Richards Hospice is a local charity that provides palliative and end of life care to patients and their families in Worcestershire. They do amazing work supporting those who are facing a life-limiting illness, and we are honoured to be able to help them continue their vital work.
